Bar: DaBears
Location: 5035 Hwy P, Wentzville, MO 63385
Score: 7.9/10
The name has nothing to do with Bill Swerski’s Super Fans (RIP Chris Farley), but it is a bar that would be perfect for the filming of their show. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to DaBears.
Located in Flint Hill along the outskirts of Wentzville, this bar is the perfect escape to get that small town vibe that is hard to capture in other bars in the area. An all brick building that likely leads some to believe is a house, is a beautiful spot that awaits you to enter to enjoy some frosty beers. Walking in, you will notice it’s not the biggest spot. But this is what contributes to the small town feel. Booths line the left side, the bar on the right, and two additional rooms for added seating make up the building layout.
DaBears opens at 6am. I’ve been told this is to accommodate for GM Plant workers who have the overnight shift, which allows them to have a place to drink after they get off as most other bars are closed. Always appreciate a bar that respects hard working Americans. Not going towards the rating, but they do have a breakfast menu to order from if you find yourself wanting to get your day started early. I have found myself in there a few mornings before a round of golf looking for a bit of the hair of the dog. I have also spent a number of nights at this bar. It has been nothing but a positive experience, but this is where I feel like this bar lacked a little for me. All the times I’ve been in, it has never been filled with people. Which obviously has its perks, but also doesn’t give you the social aspect you may be looking for when going out. The times we’ve gone, we’ve had a group of 5+, so we entertained ourselves. And this is in no way me saying the workers and patrons are rude or unfriendly. But it seems like they would rather stick to themselves or talk amongst those they seem to already know. And I think this goes back to the small town vibe this bar provides. When me and a group go, we’re kinda the outcast, the people the regulars don’t know. Maybe I’ve just gone on off nights and haven’t seen the bar to its full potential. This will not shy me away from returning to this bar, and I hope I’m proved wrong, as I truly do believe this is an amazing spot to go and visit if you’re in the Wentzville area.
Decor: Interior is entirely wood, with retro signs and taxidermy on the walls. Is a perfect fit for this small town bar vibe. A unique look that you don’t get at a lot of bars in urban areas.
Prices: Cheap drinks which is always a plus. I know food isn’t supposed to play a roll, but I’m counting this as alcohol is included. 20 wings and a bucket of beer for $30. It’s honestly one of the best deals I’ve ever seen. This alone should make you stop and give this bar a chance.
Service: Great service. Waitresses and bartenders were both on top of it.
Atmosphere: Friendly people but just lacking that social atmosphere some may be looking for. Seems to be a quieter spot to enjoy drinks with a smaller group.
Cleanliness: Zero concerns here. Place was perfectly clean.
Bonus Points: No bonus points.
