Bar: Rockette Tavern
Address: 10006 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
Score: 8.1/10
Just a good old’ classic 7am bar. Everything that you’d expect in a 7am bar this one has. Dim lighting where the front door opening feels like the most piercing light of all time, regulars that have been sitting at the bar probably since 7, and cash only of course.
This bar is within a stones throw of the last bar I reviewed, Rambling Rose. I quite literally mean a stone throw away. It was seriously so damn close to the last bar, perfect for a little early AM crawl. The outside of Rockette Tavern was a little more intimidating than the Rambling Rose. But, I muscled up and walked into the bar and got a look from a few regulars that simply said it all, “why is this 27 year old in this bar”. They could not have been more spot on, why am I in a bar, where the average age of patrons is closer to 60? Well for the love of the game of course. There was no possible way I could just ignore this dive and so I moved on to sit at the bar along with the regular Joes.
I did like this bar better than the Rambling Rose, it was a little less welcoming, but felt more like a true dive with the dim lighting and a giant L bar. What more could you ask for? Well, the Rockette kept delivering by having decor filling up every inch of the walls, just how we like it. Was the decor memorable or unique? No, but standard bar decor is mandatory at bare minimum for a good dive and the Rockette had just that.
The Rockette had a few pool tables as well, I wish I came during night time to get the full experience, but I failed to do that. The felt looked relatively new, telling me it is played on quite often.
As I am now reading over this article, holy shit is it boring. But honestly, that may describe the Rockette the best. Not boring but just the definition of a basic dive. Nothing sext or unique to right home about, but my god this bar gets the job done.
If you are looking for a good, solid dive bar with a crevice of lighting, this bar is for you, if you do not want this, walk across the street and try the Rambling Rose out. If you do not like either, well your taste in bars sucks. Go reevaluate what you like in a bar.
Price: $4.00 for a Miller. What we want to see.
Decor: Wall to wall action in this bad boy. Decor filling every inch.
Service: Good service, bartender was tied up in what looked to be a riveting conversation.
Atmosphere: Like most bars I review, I wish I came at night time, but we do not have time for that, all the time.
High Life Bottle?: Can not confirm.
Bonus Points: Cash only bar
