The Harbor Room is located in Playa Del Rey, close to Venice Beach. I’ll be honest when going to Los Angeles I was not expecting much from the dive bar scene. Ultimately most of my assumptions were right, but a few hidden Gems like the Harbor Room stood out. The Harbor Room is in a lovely area, super close to the water , honestly don’t know what more someone would want. While it may be close to the water, the inside screams dark dive bar, which is exactly what I want.
The inside was insanely tiny. Owner told me it is the smallest bar in LA county, haven’t fact checked him on this but I sure as shit believe it. It was a wooden shoe box, but I didn’t mind because it made it cozy and I went during off hours so had plenty of seating. This is also one of the oldest bars in LA, claimed to be around since the ~30s this bar has been a piece of LA history and will be for years to come. The decor left more to be desired, but the friendliness of the bartender and owner made up for this. You can tell this is a community spot. They have loyal patrons because of the rich history of the bar. If you want to get out of the madness of Venice Beach, this is a great spot to visit as it is only a couple miles away.
Price: $6 for a miller bottle. Believe it or not this isn’t an awful price for the area.
Decor: minimal decor, this is my biggest gripe with the ba
Service: good service, bartender was more than happy chatting about the bar.
Atmosphere: It’s a regulars type of spot.
