Bar: Moon Doggies Bar
Address: 3240 Arville St, Las Vegas, NV 89102

Everytime I set out on a vacation destination, one of the first things I do is research bars in the area. I refuse to use the populated bars from Google, instead I dive into the Reddit threads, word of mouth, and occasionally Instagram. Just know, this is a thorough process, to deliver you, the reader, the best bars possible. This in depth analysis led me to Vegas for our post today. When going to Vegas it is easy to get fixated on the Strip. I understand why, the Strip is great. But, Vegas has a ton to offer if you are willing to take a short Uber to get there.
Moon Doggies is a prime example. Located ten minutes off the strip, Moon Doggies has been serving locals since 1999. From the outside of the bar I knew this was going to be a good spot. I was expecting it to be the diviest dive I’ve ever laid my eyes on. After buzzing into the bar, I was shocked. The bar was actually very nice and updated on the inside. While this may be an unpopular opinion, I would have preferred the aesthetic of the outside to carry inside the bar. The inside was very modern, with a massive TV screen and Buffalo Bills signage. This is in fact a Bills bar, which is partially what brought us here. No, I do not give a shit about the Bills, but Buffalo is known for one thing. The wings. If you find a bar that claims the owners are from Buffalo or a chef that has ties to the city, run to the spot. Right when I found this bar served wings, I knew it was a must go. This bar had some of the crispiest wings I have had with a killer blue cheese dressing to go with them. Wings aside, this bar was great. They had Touchtune, Keno on the bar, and great drink specials. MUCH cheaper than anything you’ll pay on the strip. The bartender was very friendly as well after she quickly realized we were not locals. Good service goes a long way and Moon Doggies did just that.
Beyond the wings and the great service, this bar had some unique features which fall into our bonus category. First off, it is open 24/7, this is common for Vegas bars, not so much for other cities. Truly the city that doesn’t sleep. The second thing that stood out was you can rip cigs inside. The gentleman next to me was rippin a heater to pair with his Coors light and he was loving life. A great feature to any dive bars is cigs inside.
Moon Doggies was overall a great experience and I would go back for drinks or just the wings. This bar will sit just outside of the top 10, more decor on the inside could have brought it up in ratings.
Decor: Lacking in this category. I wish the inside matched the outside of the bar.
Price: Cheap, huge 24oz drafts for around $6.
Service: Stellar service, nice bartenders.
Atmosphere: Atmosphere was great, everyone was friendly and enjoying the bar.
Cleanliness: Clean bar, one benefit of the outside not matching the inside of the place was that it was very clean.
Bonus Points: 24/7, cigs inside
