Post 27: Jim and Debs Lakeside Pub

I was scrolling through Facebook (yes I’m 25 and use Facebook, sue me.) this morning and came across a post that instantly grabbed my attention. Jim and Debs would be opening back up January 2025. Back in the summer, they announced they had lost their liquor license. As you can probably tell, a bar losing their liquor license is a death sentence. I cannot 100% sure say why it was revoked, and I refuse to use Facebook posts to try and speculate on what occurred. What I do know is, Jim and Debs did not give up. The community rallied around them, showing up both physically to meetings and showing support online. It was then announced in October they got their liquor license back. I’m not sure what occurred to get it back, but they did it. One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. But, if that wasn’t enough, after getting their license back, they were flooded from pump stations at the hotel the bar is connected too. And after many months, it finally seems like storm has passed and they are ready to reopen.

Jim and Debs is located in Lake St. Louis connected to a hotel. If you aren’t from the area or typing bars into google maps, you likely would pass right by it as it’s kind of hidden. Entering the bar, you get a hometown bar vibe. What I mean by that is this place is nothing flashy. It’s not a bar that people are going to travel across the world to say they’ve been to, but it is a bar that if you’re in the area, you’re absolutely going to want to stop into. This was one of the go to bars when we were home from college we always made sure to visit. Which goes back to the hometown vibe. Even in recent times when we would stop in, we always seemed to find someone we knew from high school. With pool tables and darts inside, it’s a great place to hang out for a night with friends. They also have a patio for when the weather is nice making it a perfect spot to enjoy some beers. So come January 2nd, if you’re looking for a new bar to check out. Be sure to give Jim and Debs a go.

Decor: Reminds me of your buddy’s Dad’s basement where he’s been collecting bar decor for the past 20 years and he finally finished his basement bar to display it all.

Prices: Extremely cheap. Can walk out of there feeling real good without the wallet taking a beating.

Service: Great service. Bartenders are always super nice and quick to grab a drink.

Atmosphere: Perfect spot for a night out with friends. Whether you’re looking to play some pool or darts, or just crack some cold ones, this is the spot to do it.

Cleanliness: Has that old school vibe which makes it feel grimy but in a good way. Clean bar.

Bonus Points: Used to be able to smoke inside, but St. Charles County is soft now and prohibits it. Close to bonus points, but no cigar
