Where do I even start? This was the diviest dive that we came across during our visit to Richmond. From the outside of the bar, I knew exactly what I was going to get. Checkered red flooring, drop tile ceilings, and a red bar top that all screamed vintage. This bar also had wood paneling on the bottom half of the walls. The border of the walls also featured high top seating with each table having a vintage Coke sign hanging above. The bar itself had a ton of seating as well and extended to two sides, allowing for tons of room for patrons. At some point in the bar’s history it almost appears that a middle wall was knocked down to allow for you to be able to see through the other side of the bar. The signage on the walls was honestly minimal, but other factors that I mentioned made up for it.
As far as entertainment goes, this bar had a nice pool table and they are known for having karaoke during most days of the week. We went when karaoke had not started yet, so we did not get to experience it. The bar also had Touchtunes, which I am pretty sure a gentleman next to us dropped $100 in the matter of an hour.
I was really impressed with the service, the bartender was a Bears fan and we talked a bit about the bar and our beloved Bears. He went into detail how the bar has killer Korean food, as he was Korean. I was very surprised to see Korean food at an establishment like this and I am disappointed that I did not try any. #1 rule with food, if it does not make sense, at least give it a chance. Once you see pics of this place, you’ll see what I mean, by not expecting to see a full Korean menu.
Look, this bar is not downtown but very close. If you want a true dive, this is the spot for you. I honestly could not get a read on the typical crowd, but being in my mid twenties, I’d visit occasionally if I lived in the area. Overall, solid spot, cheap prices, plenty of entertainment.
Price: Honestly do not remember the price of a Miller, but it was cheap, I know that much.
Service: Solid service, bartender had a Bears hat on, so needless to say we got along well.
Atmosphere: Pretty empty, but went during off hours. I’d imagine during karaoke the place gets packed.
High Life Bottle?: Yep, I believe they also had it on draft.
